After the last update, the Signal "desktop app" is requiring us to launch the mobile app - however, many of us do not have the Android or any other "mobile" version of the Signal app any more.

We are a large (by our standards) group of #Linux phone users, and your "desktop" app is our "mobile" app : )

Our previous phones on which #SignalApp was initially activated was an Android or Apple device and we have since then completely migrated to #Linuxphones. Some of us may have registered Signal on #signalcli, Flare, #Molly, Signal Android in #WayDroid, etc.

The #mobileLinux community is growing - we have members spanning a good number of projects and devices, e.g.
- @purism #Librem5 and #LibertyPhone running #Debian-based #PureOS #GnuLinux, #Alpine-based #PostmarketOS or #Mobian,
- @PINE64 #Pinephone and PP Pro running #ManjaroARM, #SailfishOS, etc.
- @furilabs #FLX1 running #Droidian-based #FuriOS,
- a wide variety of Android phones (including OnePlus 6, Google Pixel 3, #Fairphone 4 & 5) running #Alpine-based @postmarketOS ,
- @volla , #Fxtec and #Brax3 devices running #UbuntuTouch by @ubports,
- devices running @mobian which is part of #Debian project, etc.

Looks like #alpinelinux is desperately in need for migrating their servers to some other hoster. They are looking for sponsors, who are willing to support this project. Please share, such that they will find a new digital home. Requirements are transparently listed in the blog post.

Fixed one #Mesa3D test and enabled tests in the #Alpine packaging. With the next releases, we can be sure no regressions sneak into Alpine or #postmarketOS. For now, some tests are failing on older 32-bit ARM, but otherwise, everything looks good!

Thanks to the heroic effort of @omni and celeste, rust 1.76 landed today in #alpine after being stuck on 1.72 for quite some time.

Now that I have a better idea of what I'm doing and the need for using tags, a re-#introduction.

I'm a #planetary and #environmental #geologist and currently a #postdoc at NAU.

My #research includes performing #fieldwork using #arctic, #subarctic, and #alpine #periglacial analogs to better understand the history of #ice on #Mars.

I'm also into #photography and the #weather.

I'm interested in re-connecting with folks in the #geoscience and #astronomy communities making the #TwitterMigration

@codeberg #htmx looks pretty powerful, personally I would stick to #alpine
Websockets, fetch don't need a library, #VanillaJS has you covered.

_Simple_ html templating with reactive state on the other hand does.

Plus I prefer the unix philosophy

yeah, that's about how I've felt about #void (which has a fair few similarities to #alpine, for that matter)

#docker で #alpine linuxベースのイメージ作ってる。古いgccを入れようとしているが、単に /etc/apk/repositories を編集して古いのを取ってこようとすると ERROR: unsatisfiable constraints になってしまうので結局古いalpineを使うしかなさそう・・・？

Well, I'll probably still end up going with void. That said, I've been slightly reluctant to hop to void because of their issues with their (former) maintainer disappearing and a general slow pace of public status updates since then.

The idea of a distro with a lot of the same advantages but will more active/public development is pretty appealing. But that doesn't mean it'd be the right way to go.

Have any of y'all run #alpine linux as a desktop distro? I know that's not really its primary focus, but it seems like it could be a nice #void alternative for someone looking to run a window manager anyway.

But I'd love to hear from anyone who gave it a try.
