The spousal unit came home today and said, "I got you a toy!" and I was like, oh no, what kind of junk is he bringing home from the thrift store today (the last one being a keychain with a miniature version of my favourite instant noodle, which is thoughtful of him but, do I really need it?).

To my surprise, it's not really as junky as expected. It's a Widelux F7 panoramic camera with carrying case and a set of filters. It takes 35mm film.

Apparently, according to eBay sold listings, some people would pay a couple of thousand dollars for one of these. Huh. (The spousal unit got it for a steal, and yes, it works.)

Anyway, I've been a camera collector for years and I have hundreds of film cameras in my collection. This one is definitely one of the nicer (and very few) additions to the collection in recent years.

Someone has written an informative article about this camera, if you're interested in reading more about it: dancuny.com/camera-collecting-

One year later… Inception! 👀

The #Fairphone5’s front camera is working well (with an impressively smooth refresh rate) on #postmarketOS. 🚀

Shot from another #Fairphone 5 running #CalyxOS, that I actually bought a couple of hours after the original post ⤴️

Thank you so much for what you do, @postmarketOS! ❤️

A few weeks ago,#Mobian on the #PocoF1 received early-stage #camera support! The drivers still need some work to be up to "modern" standards, but till then they give a nice retro vibe...but in hi-res!

It's interesting to see how much of phone photography is the actual light coming in from the camera and how much is postprocessing. In this account, I'll attempt to share (and boost) shots taken with the Poco on Mobian so that we can witness the evolution real time 📸

For starters: the images here are a live preview of the camera, a shot with low lamp lighting, and the same shot helped along with "flash" or rather the torch activated from the quick menu

#Camera support for the #PocoF1 just dropped in #mobian! There's still work to be done, but hey, we're making good progress 🎉🎈

PSA: the final image turns out better than the preview. Remember to manually set the ISO for best results 🔧

The photos here are taken without and with flash respectively—or, should I say, with the torch activated from the quick menu 🔦

I haven't set up postprocessing, but maybe these themselves can form their own aesthetic! #BerryLin, anyone? :linux: :debian: :phosh:

Time Travel: obscure & cryptic little ad in Artforum Magazine from 45 years ago proves more relevant today than back in 1980.

#Scientific #research, #spiritual #quest, or #conceptual #art, it's an invitation to make contact with Time Travelers — or Visitors from the Future(s) — at what some call a landing reception. Today, the ongoing work of The Krononaut Moon Project continues at full steam on #Mastodon & #Fediverse.

🌠 🐘 🛸

The historic ad appeared in the magazine's 1980 Jan issue, announcing a gathering to occur two years later on 1982 Mar 09, inviting #Krononauts or #TimeTravelers to beam down to #Baltimore #MD #US. The hundreds of attendees at the night's festivities were documented by a #NYTimes #newspaper reporter. Later, others would organize their own inter-dimensional meet-ups in #Perth #AU, #MIT #US, and #Cambridge #UK. (All were landing receptions of type-1.0. See links below & on our other @KronoMoon pages for details.)

The Artforum ad can be found in #library collections and on the "Time Travel" page of #Wikipedia.

Baltimore's event was timed for a full #Moon & a rare #planetary alignment in 1982, known to #astronomers as a #syzygy. It was the prototype for today's more evolved type-2.0 "experimentations, observations & celebrations" taking place under the shadow of the #TotalLunarEclipse — the night of the #KrononautMoon. There will be 3 #TLEclipses in 2025 & 2026, with the next one coming up on 2025 Mar 14 #UTC 07:00, barely months away.

❛❛ On the Night of the Total Lunar Eclipse,
Time Travelers descend in their space-time ships. ❜❜

All sentient beings are welcome to join us in connecting with the #cosmos, the #multiverse, and your #past & #future #selves. Even folks who gripe that this is utter absurdity are invited (despite the #thinking of a few enlightened #quantum #physicists). Or, you might choose to spend a peaceful evening by yourself under the #stars, on a #sacred #mountaintop, at the #beach, or in your own #backyard. The more diverse are these experimental approaches, the greater the likelihood of meaningful contact. Or, you could bring along your friends & colleagues, your grandparents & grandkids, your #CatsOfMastodon & #DogsOfMastodon (and don't forget a #camera for lots of @KronoMoonPhotos). Watch the skies for #UFOs, #UAP, or a #signal from the #beyond. Who can know who might show up? The #fullMoon will be shining bright on that night, before it goes dark, and then shines bright again, all in an hour or so. Participants will be contributing to the greater body of Community Time Travel Research. Become a fellow #MoonWatcher on 2025 March 14, wherever you are.

Oh, neat! A new open source app for Fuji cameras.

github.com/petabyt/fudge

Currently Android and WiFi only, just supporting transfers so far. Bluetooth is planned, as is location support. Desktop and iOS versions are listed on the roadmap.

Extremely happy to finally own a #Sony #MAVICA camera, a digital camera that uses a floppy disk as storage! MVC-FD90

And yes, that is in fact the floppy disk to Sony Memory Stick adapter, which came free with this flea-market find; but I feel like using it is cheating a bit, especially if you have a Memory Stick to Memory Stick Duo adapter (insert Xhibit Yo Dawg meme).
