What is Trade-Free?

Trade-Free is an idea that shares a lot in common with #FOSS, or Purely Free.

The diffs btw FOSS and Trade-Free is: Trade-Free can't include Ads, trackers, consumerism, etc. etc…

If some FOSS application got #datacollection, or you have to see #Ads, or you have to pay for #access, or there are #trackers, etc. Even if it's FOSS, it's not Trade-Free anymore.

So when the app definitely wants something from you, it's not #TradeFree anymore.

Created this after reading conversation in comments below some tech article somewhere. Someone mentioned "surfing the #internet sewer" and I really liked that phrase.

I'm quitting posting videos on #YouTube. My account is 4779 days old and I just received this message, stating that I'm loosing #features because of lack of "sufficient channel history" which is absolutely NOT true (I was even a YouTube partner for years before they decided that having views was no longer a good enough metric for them)

The worst part of all of this is that they are going to keep the #verification #data #video for up to TWO YEARS if you go through that.

Like #privacy did not even exist.

(And let's not even start talking about the #ads issue that have been increasing exponentially lately...)

Norway took on Meta’s surveillance ads and won.

The beauty of #Fediverse is that you can do organic #SocialNetworking which is much different than what #Twitter allows you to do.

Twitter is broadcast-type #SocialMedia. It's algorithms 'sell' your engagement with goal to maximize no. of eyeballs glued online, watching #Ads.

Fedi OTOH does none of that. It enables a #Peopleverse to emerge. A social graph of those folks you'd like to hang out with.

Wanna be a broadcaster here? Go ahead. But pls don't be an 'influencer' be a person instead!
