Alright, it's time to finally start using this account.
For those that are unaware, we moved from Fosstodon to TH.S on April 26, 2025 and we haven't posted anything on this account since then.. until now.
A quick introduction, we're the maintainer of an Arch-based distribution for #PinePhone, #PinePhonePro and #PineTab2 and our latest release (at the time of this toot) was in December last year (it's been that long, huh)
This account will be used to post updates and news about that distribution.
Thanks treehouse.systems team for letting us in.

I know, many have been asking for this and even more out there didn’t even dare to ask.
But finally, the wait is over:
You can now use your #PinephonePro running #FreeBSD to do all your #Borland C++ #OS2 development while waiting for 1997 to arrive.

The PinePhone Pro tangent in the "Sidenote: What about the Librem 5?" section in https://linmob.net/gtk-418-the-pinephone-and-megapixels/#sidenote-what-about-the-librem-5 had to be corrected after playing with Megapixels 2.0 alpha 1 on the #PinePhonePro
The APKBUILDs used to try this can be found at https://framagit.org/linmobapps/apkbuilds/-/commit/c8952b4e6b402e7a88859c30b20fce685c0cfc26

We are looking for a #FreeBSD committer who would be willing to mentor and help getting our changes regarding #PinephonePro support into CURRENT.
If you want to have a look, the repo is located at https://codeberg.org/Honeyguide/freebsd-pinephonepro
Tested the latest #GNOME #Snapshot on #postmarketOS on my #PINE64 #PinePhonePro! It's been a while since I revisited the PinePhonePro but with cameras and camera utilities coming a long way on newer devices I wanted to revisit #libcamera on the PinePhones. I installed @NekoCWD's cameractrl and it successfully controls focus, but the PPP camera seems to have autoexposure that reduces the utility of cameractrl's exposure slider. Anyways, here's a picture of some other postmarketOS devices.
Working on the @PINE64 #PinephonePro camera using @libcamera . Progress is slow but steady!
Just a reminder about the meetup in Christchurch, New Zealand on February 26.
The topic is Linux Mobile and I (Dan) will bring 4 devices:

#ArchLinuxARM for @PINE64 #PinePhone / #PinePhonePro / #PineTab2 (2024/12/23) has released.
Release Notes + Downloads: https://github.com/dreemurrs-embedded/Pine64-Arch/releases/tag/20241223
This will be the last release of 2024. See you next year! :)
#digitalemuendigkeit with #debian on smartphones, aka #mobian . I was suprised that over 20 people joined yesterdays meetup and some brought their #linuxphones with them. People played around with #phosh #kdeplasma #mobian #postmarketos #Fairphone5 ..
Also thanks @awai for the #pinephonepro rental. It was used to present the slides and was flashed with #mobian trixie. People could choose between #lomiri, #phosh and #kdeplasma in the login manager.
#SailfishOS on the @PINE64 #pinephone and #pinephonepro have had a kernel bump to 6.12. Was a frustrating few days as I figured out a particular failure, 6.12 deprecated memory cgroup v1 which we require, so that had to be adding into the defconfig, but all is good now. zypper ref && zypper dup

would anybody else be interested in an 18650 battery case for the #pinephone / #pinephonepro? i did the math, you could fit at least 6, probably 8 cells on the back without covering the cameras. 3500mah cells * 9 (including internal) would get you over 30000mah, or about 100wh with a standard 3.7V cell. that's several days of screen on time.
sure, it might be a bit chunky, but i think it'd be awesome. theoretically it could charge with the phone's builtin port too thanks to the pogo pins.
the pinephone pro works pretty well when docked - https://youtu.be/Sa783HQ5ZUU

Outgoing call quality is terrible. "Sounds like you are standing next to a waterfall". Tried following this and this advice and modified /usr/share/alsa/ucm2/PinePhonePro/VoiceCall.conf
:
cset "name='IN1 Boost' 0"
cset "name='IN2 Boost' 0"
cset "name='IN3 Boost' 0"
That didn't work so I tried reducing mic volume in sxmo menu to 5%. "I still hear static but it is a lot better. I can hear my own voice echo back to me".cset "name='ADC Capture Volume' 0"
Still having background static noise as well as echo. Very odd as I would have thought setting capture volume to 0 would have had zero input but it is still picking up too much.Trying to set up location services on the #pinephonepro, using satellite I can get a fix and everything looks good but using #gnomeMaps, #PureMaps or google maps through firefox, they can’t find my location.

This thread will be about my experiments with my new #pinePhonePro.
I got it yesterday and had a few minor hurdles out of the gate. I followed instructions on the wiki but couldn't get it to boot into #sailfishOS. I don't remember what I did differently but after a few attempts it booted fine. I immediately wanted to replace sailfish but first checked that sms and calls worked fine and it did (though took a while to receive the first call).
I flashed #postmarketOS with #PlasmaMobile to an sd card and tried booting from it but quickly realised I had missed a step . The wiki said I had to install #towboot to the SPI so I did that. After following the instructions properly this time I installed the OS successfully. I found Plasma extremely sluggish and unresponsive so quickly moved on. The next OS I flashed was postmarketOS again but this time with #sxmo and I immediately fell in love with the interface.
After that I went to sleep as it had been a long day and was getting late. This morning I flashed postmarketos with sxmo to the eMMC and will be tinkering with it today. Ill update this post with comments about my progress.
