I'm doing my best to make the world a better place in the ways I have some impact, but all the latest problems of the world coming at me all the time (through my phone) was causing some mental health problems (depression/anxiety) , so i started to spend a LOT more time offline.

Just realized #introduction is overdue.

I’m Erik, and I use he/him pronouns.

I’m 50 something years old and live with my spouse, two teenage kids, two cats, and two dogs. My oldest child is away at college as a #botany major.

For the last 13 years I’ve biked for transportation. I follow the #BikeTooter and #BikeNite tags.

I make art, mostly #figuredrawing and #printmaking

I build software in the film industry.

I play in a biweekly tabletop role playing game.

I wrote up a post about my attempt to use digital fabrication (3D printing) to create a linocut style print.

This stuff gets me going because it's sort of uncharted territory where I am figuring things out...

And I get to mess with 3D printing *and* printmaking along the way.

For #PrinterSolstice prompt spectrum: my #linocut of trailblazing American #astronomer Annie Jump Cannon (1863 – 1941) with her stellar classification system which sorted stars based on spectral types, revealing their temperature from hot blue stars to cool red stars: O,B,A, F, G, K & M. Named after the university the Harvard Classification her tremendous contribution was less visible. 1/n

Here's another one of my recent prints, Mevagissey Harbour, a six colour screenprint which I started editioning earlier this year.

It is from a series of photographs I took of the harbour. I did not trace it from the photograph though but redrew it and interpreted it in my own way.

It features four colours and two transparent blacks. And lots of textures and natural media elements.

It is quite large at 48 x 38cm.

So here's another print of mine, Coverack. It is a two colour lino print and it has been one of my most popular prints! It is 38 x 38cm in size.

It is from a photo I took of Coverack in Cornwall, a most beautiful spot. I removed the surf boards!

I am working on a print of Mousehole next and I really need to get on with it but I need to get our next fair out of the way first.

Hello! I've just moved to this server as I thought it better suited me, so here's an introduction about me.

My name is John Bloor, I'm 52 years old and married with two grown up boys. I live in southern England.

I studied film, worked in the film industry, learned how to do HTML and became a web designer in 1996. Then slowly I became a graphic desiger and illustrator.

I kept losing my job, kept having confrontations with people and eventually was diagnosed with ASD in 2011 age 40.

Even when I told my employers that I had ASD I was still forced out of jobs. So I freelanced but developed so much anxiety when freelancing and dealing with clients that I fired them all.

I had a psychotic breakdown while at one of these jobs and have never been the same since, starting to suffer from paranoia. I have since learned that working on my own and having minimal contact with people is the best thing for me.

Printmaking literally saved my life! I started printmaking in my early 40s and began doing it seriously in 2015. A few years later I became a full time printmaker.

Printmaking is very mindful (I hate that word) and it is a safe place for me where I know what I'm doing.

Now I bring in an income, I'm not quite where I want to be but I'm getting there. I'd like to be able to print what I like all the time instead of just some of the time.

I live every day with anxiety but that is manageable. I know how to deal with it and plan things carefully. The episodes of paranoia and mood swings are harder to deal with but I'm hoping I'll get there.

I came to Mastodon to escape other social media which was completely doing my head in with perfect posts, adverts, videos and suggested accounts. Also following too many printmaking accounts led me to feel terrible.

So far so good, I am loving Mastodon and the way everyone supports each other. I hope to contribute to that.

As well as a printmaker I write music and sometimes take photographs. I am very keen on collecting new music too.

So you can expect to see posts from me about my printmaking, music, photography and mental health. I hope that's ok!

I am hardly ever on FB. I hate it but in a different way to the bird site. But every now and then I get a memory that takes me to crazy land. Me in the pink, 6 weeks off having Troll 2, with the ACT Chief Minister and one of my favourite board members. I was heading one of ACT's Key Arts Orgs and we were celebrating our 35th Birthday with a World Record 35m long screenprint. I was hot and tired and fat and they made me wear pink which I hate.
