I haven't had a #TV for a quarter of a century and have been ignoring all the various "#streaming" media (#netflix, #audible, #kindle, #spotify, etc.), because I want to consume what I want, when I want, with as few prerequisites (power for the nas acceptable, stable internet and permission from the service decidedly not) as possible. *Very* much my #actuallyautistic "devine wrath" behind that decision.

By way of introduction: I'm Phil Nelson, I have been creating independent and corporate things on the internet for over 20 years including founding GameWikis (sold to Wikia), helping to launch $1M+ campaigns for Structure Sensor and OpenCV AI Kit, hosting the weekly OpenCV Live streaming show, running the indie vintage media site RetroStrange (home of RetroStrange TV!), and gaming blog SetSideB. It has this melancholy to it that is really representative of the sort of loneliness one might feel trying to bound between multiple eras of time while desperately trying to prevent the destruction of the planet while everyone just lives their lives, mostly oblivious to the mortal peril you're all in yet, it also has a soothing peacefulness to it that quite a few people (me included) seem to be taken with

Unlike quite a bit of the repertoire, this is actually a piece that causes me a lingering feeling of never quite being able to do it justice still, after nearly 6 months of streaming, this has remained a favourite of the people that tune in to the stream and gets a play-through at least every other stream if not once a stream (or even 2 plays in the same stream )

The cost of most major #streaming services has increased by more than 40% since launch, on average.

Spotify officially demonetises all tracks with under 1,000 streams

This is just an insanely bone-headed move that is so pointless.

These artists don't even get paid that much money, and yet Spotify wants to cut off their revenue.

I'm done with Spotify. In fact, I think I'm flat-out done with music streaming services. All of them are exploitative. back to buying digital albums for me.

The plan right now is to do some more #Swift #streaming in an hour or two. We'll still be working on the #Heroku app, but I had a fun idea yesterday that will involve bringing in some #SpriteKit and playing with Layouts. It may or may not work out but we'll find out together!
