We just released important security patches for versions 4.1, 4.2, nightly, and the already discontinued 3.5 and 4.0.
If you are using nightly, you can upgrade to the 4.3.0-nightly.2024-02-15-security tag to get the patches.
Please upgrade as soon as possible!

@MastodonEngineering I'm very confused right now. 2 days ago I updated from 4.2.5 to 4.2.6. Today I've received a new mail about software updates. I went here to see if there's a new toot about the update but there's nothing new. But I see a 4.2.7 release tagged. Can you confirm?
@MastodonEngineering how do you actually know which versions of Mastodon receive long-term support?
@MastodonEngineering I can't post pictures or see other pictures in the browser, Tusky or the app now. (Instance: Mastodon.online)
@Gargron
@AmiW
Hello. I think you should instead warn the admin/staff of your instance, I mean staff@mastodon.online
@Chtixof I'm not sure about that. Who is responsible now? I have written an email and hope...
@MastodonEngineering Done ! Seamless upgrade as usual
@MastodonEngineering Still waiting for the 503 errors on hashtag suggestions to be fixed.
@Susan_Larson_TN @MastodonEngineering This is not expected. Could you either provide more details here (what are you doing to get this error? what hashtag?), or even better do it in an issue here if you have a Github account: https://github.com/mastodon/mastodon/issues/new/choose
The error... It occurs for any hashtag suggestions. It's also giving me an error on uploading images. I tried to upload the below image and got another 503 error.
@renchap @Susan_Larson_TN @MastodonEngineering not on hashtags only. On uploads too. Also not showing images on the feed from outside
@liilliil
This is unfortunately caused by a major outage at our provider for media files storage.
You can get updates about this incident on our status page: https://status.mastodon.online/clsm48v6w25586bcojz440fhzq
@renchap @liilliil @MastodonEngineering Still getting the 503 errors for hashtag suggestions
@renchap @Susan_Larson_TN @MastodonEngineering search still broken (503)
@liilliil @Susan_Larson_TN @MastodonEngineering We are working on restoring the service after our provider outage, search should be back now.
@renchap @Susan_Larson_TN @MastodonEngineering thanks a lot, good luck
@liilliil @renchap @MastodonEngineering
Things seem fine this morning. I Appreciate all the hard work!
@MastodonEngineering Could this be why i am getting 503 errors on hashtag suggestions on mastodon.online?
@MastodonEngineering Great work - Thank you for letting us all know, and working quickly to address the sidekiq issues.
Yet again, it showcases why #opensource rules.
@MastodonEngineering The official web interface clients show an upgrade notice to the admins. Is this warning also exposed in the API? (e.g. are third party clients able to display these warnings easily?)
@jpostma @MastodonEngineering This is a good idea, and we want to add a feature for “server-originating announcements" (compared to current announcements that are written by admins) which could be use for this.
@MastodonEngineering
aaaaaaand it's done
I upgraded from 4.2.5 to 4.2.6 just now, but am getting this message. The link points to the 4.2.5 release notes.
Seems the message is inaccurate.
Edit: fixed.
