Glenda has joined the family. (Tortoise for scale.)

Thaddeus Woskowiak has made a lovely 3D model of Glenda the Plan 9 bunny. Spent yesterday prepping and painting a print.

Here are some historical drawings by @reneefrench we coincidentally uncovered today. The original drawing that inspired the version that became Glenda (and was also philw's vismon icon, not that he approved), the drawing that became the Glenda image for Plan 9, and the hamster drawing for WFMU that mutated into the Go Gopher.

@robpike What's the source of the sauropod? (This is dear to my heart as I am both a Go programmer and a sauropod palaeontologist.)

@sirjofri Thanks for that. It's cute. We didn't see it because Renee is not on Instagram.

The artist who made the 3d model is srjskam.

@robpike do you ever have dreams about the mascots for your software?

@robpike Thank Thaddeus and thank you for the color scheme. I've only seen the drawings in black & white. Very cute.

@robpike @reneefrench great sketches, and I’d also like put in a word if support for the font used in the ruler.

@mattblaze @reneefrench Thanks. That is one of a line of lovely rulers from Japan.

@mattblaze @robpike @reneefrench

usually i associate orbs and sceptors with rulers, not fonts. tend to think of priests and fonts. ;)

@robpike @reneefrench I have no idea how I encountered them from Melbourne, but WFMU have been the source of so many great music discoveries for me

@robpike @reneefrench

There's a Plan 9 / WFMU connection?

Oh my stars and garters!

@robpike @reneefrench The WFM... one totally works as a "Works For Me!" gopher too.

@robpike are the print files for Glenda public? where to download from?

Rob,

the artist who made the model, srjskam, had a question about it and he's not on fedi:

"I'm not on Mastodon, but since you are there and in contact with him, could you ask about the copyright status? I'd still like to share it online but don't want to step on any toes."

I can email him back the response.

@thedaemon Sorry but we really don't know. Glenda was drawn a long time ago and within the confines of the Plan 9 work at Bell Labs. The Plan 9 foundation might have a better answer. All we ask for is respect.

Plan 9 Foundation says that "All the glenda images on this site are © renee french." your wife has copyright. https://p9f.org/glenda.html Hence, why he has tried to reach out to Renee :) We will treat her with great respect of course. Thank you.
