@Mastodon quick question, but for those on #patreon do they get to remove and not see these banners? Much rather stepup and support Mastodon rather than pay for #twitter or #bluesky I mean there is the @buyfromeu movement. Mastodon may not have the prettiest or easiest sign up (yet) but it will outlive twitter and maybe bluesky
Mastodon will implement quote-posts starting with v4.4, which is already available as a preview on the flagship instance Mastodon.social.
I use Bridgy Fed to automatically crosspost from Bsky – including quote-posts – to the Fediverse.
I’m curious what’s causing the “pending approval” message …
@Gargron sometimes I wonder what can we learn from #Twitter or even #Bluesky in terms of social medias like it.. quote posting, I think I'm fine with it, I just saw that it *could* be worse if implemented like in Twitter, I do hope that at least, since switching microblogging IS easier than like #Youtube or #Twitch it can finally build a sizable space in the internet.
Is Quoting Posts a way? Yeah, I think so, but also like.. a bunch, I can't remember it on the top of my head.. Welp, that's life
@Mastodon it will be tricky to liberate people from legacy social media platforms. People that embrace the values and vision of the #fediverse have already migrated years ago, despite the usability issues. New opportunities do come when there are major shocks, like political events but luck favors the prepared: #bluesky grew a lot as of late because of a smoother UX and catering in particular to US users fleeing X/Tweeter.
@eff Not as bad as losing a visa, but on #Bluesky the blocklists are being abused hard by the far-right. Not too long ago I found out my casual art and gaming account had been added to a blocklist with hundreds of thousands of people called "Drama: people engaging in drama, usually angry politics."
The politics related posts on that couple of years old account can be counted with fingers of one hand, and there's zero arguing or debating with anybody. Seems those lists originally created to block Nazis are nowadays used by Nazis to make random people they don't like blocked. What's even funnier, my actual politics account with lots of angriness and frustration isn't on that list. Don't trust makers of those lists blindly.
This week, an essay about #Bluesky's proposal for setting user preferences on their accounts. This allows people to indicate how they want their data to be handled off-protocol. I wrote about how the #fediverse can improve on this, using its strengths of many different communities, each with its own culture and values.
